Attend the Plan Review Institute and…

Learn how-to effectively perform structural, nonstructural and residential plan reviews. Increase efficiency in determining if a given set of plans and specifications complies with the applicable 2006 I-Code. Nationally recognized practitioners explain how-to perform specific plan reviews in a step-by-step fashion. Features interactive practice exercises, question and answer sessions, detailed checklists and other valuable job aids. Solve problems, share experiences, network, exchange information and interact with highly-respected educators in the industry.

Continuing Education

Attend this ICC institute and earn ICC CEUs, AIA Learning Units (LUs) and Health Safety and Welfare credit (HSW)*

While this ICC institute does not specifically prepare individuals for an ICC certification examination, it does serve as an excellent opportunity to earn CEUs towards renewing any ICC Certification or preparation for career advancement.

2006 IRC Performing Residential Plan Reviews

Terrell Stripling

Terrell Stripling
Terrell is a seasoned instructor with 20 years of fire service experience and has also worked in the construction industry. He holds a B.S. degree from Oklahoma State University in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology. His experience in fire prevention, code management, and the ability to effectively communicate a pro-active philosophy, is reflected in Terrell’s passion for education. At the college level, he has served in the positions of Department Chair and adjunct professor in the Fire Science Department. He is a seasoned instructor that utilizes the theory of the codes along with hands-on, practical application to achieve ICC’s vision of “Protecting the health, safety, and welfare of people by creating better buildings and safer communities.”

Gary L. Nelson

Gary L. Nelson, P.E.
Gary is currently a Senior Staff Engineer for ICC in the Architectural & Engineering Services´ Plan Review Department located in the Chicago District Office. As a senior staff engineer, he is responsible for conducting building plan reviews of proposed construction, writing and dispensing verbal code interpretations, assisting in the production of training products, and teaching seminars. He has worked for ICC and the former BOCA organization for almost 20 years. Mr. Nelson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Illinois and Alabama. Prior to joining BOCA, he was a design engineer for over 10 years with Chicago Bridge and Iron Company where he was assigned to various engineering departments responsible for the design and construction of steel fabricated structures to industry-related codes and standards. Gary teaches building code and residential code seminars for ICC.
