February 23rd, 2016
by International Code Council
  • Press Releases

ICC Committee Action Hearings Scheduled for April 17-27 in Louisville, Ky.

Code and fire officials, architects, engineers, designers, energy conservation experts and others have an opportunity to provide input on proposed changes to the next generation of building safety, fire prevention, and energy efficiency codes during the International Code Council’s (ICC) 2016 Group B Committee Action Hearings, April 17-27, at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky.

Industry professionals will hear testimony and take action on proposed changes to ICC’s 2018 Group B International Codes, which consist of administrative provisions in all codes, the structural chapters in the International Building Code and the International Existing Building Code, the building and energy chapters in the International Residential Code, and all chapters in the International Fire Code, International Energy Conservation Code and International Wildland-Urban Interface Code. Download the hearing schedule.

Following the hearings, Code Council Members can participate in the Online Governmental Consensus Vote (OGCV) that will be administered through cdpACCESS, ICC’s online tool for code development. To participate in the OGCV, Code Council Governmental Memberships must be current by March 18. Details are available at www.iccsafe.org/EVDS. Not an ICC Voting Member? You can still use cdpACCESS to collaborate, review and submit comments on the proposed changes and committee actions.

“ICC uses the governmental consensus process to develop codes that have provided citizens the highest level of construction safety in the world for more than 80 years,” said Code Council Board of Directors President Alex Olszowy, III, with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government in Lexington, Ky. “Member and stakeholder input and participation is critical to the ongoing success of the code development process, which leads to the latest advancements, science and technology being incorporated into a safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient built environment.”

The 2016 Committee Action Hearings are free to attend and pre-registration is encouraged. For registration information, please go to www.iccsafe.org/springhearings. Special ICC rates for lodging at the Hyatt Regency Louisville are available through March 28. Government rates are available and subject to availability. For more information, please email springhearings@iccsafe.org or call 888-ICC-SAFE (888 422-7233), ext. 4333.
