Apply Now: Code Action Committees and the Codes and Standards Council

The International Code Council (ICC) invites dedicated volunteers to apply for committee positions in the 2027–2029 Code Development Cycle.  By serving on these committees, you will help shape the 2030 International Codes (I-Codes), advancing building safety through model codes used by your communities and others globally.  Your involvement directly influences the safety and well-being of approximately two billion people worldwide, ensuring that our communities benefit from up-to-date, effective building codes. 

Committee Opportunities

The following committees are currently open to volunteer applications, offering a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of future building codes. 

Code Action Committees (CACs)

• Building Code Action Committee (BCAC) 
• Fire Code Action Committee (FCAC) 
• Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Code Action Committee (PMGCAC) 
• Sustainability, Energy & High-Performance Building Code Action Committee (SEHPCAC) 
• Compliance Code Action Committee (CCAC) 

Code Action Committees (CACs) are code discipline specific committees whose purposes are to enhance the technical requirements of the International Codes and secondarily to hone the capabilities of committee members for possible future appointments to code development committees (CDCs).  More details on the CACs can be found in ICC’s Council Policy 31. 

Note: All current committee members must reapply to be considered for reappointment. 

Codes and Standards Council  

The Codes and Standards Council shall be responsible for the review and oversight of the ICC Codes and Standards Development Process.  More details on the CACs can be found in ICC’s Council Policy 9. 

Note: The Codes and Standards Council call for committee members is open to Code Officials.
