Call for Committee: 2027–2029 Cycle Committees
Participate in shaping the future of building safety and energy.
The International Code Council (ICC) invites dedicated volunteers to apply for committee positions in the 2027–2029 Code Development Cycle. By serving on these committees, you will help shape the 2030 International Codes (I-Codes), advancing building safety through model codes used by your communities and others globally. Your involvement directly influences the safety and well-being of approximately 2 billion people worldwide, ensuring that our communities benefit from up-to-date, effective building codes.
Committee Opportunities
Code Development Committees (CDCs)
These committees are central to the ICC’s code development process. Volunteers will review and evaluate code change proposals submitted for the 2030 I-Codes. The process will continue to follow the two-cycle format:
- Group A Codes: Processed in 2027
- Group B Codes: Processed in 2028
Each group will include two Committee Action Hearings (CAHs)—one in the Spring and one in the Fall—with the same committee presiding over both. This format ensures deeper vetting and higher-quality code content.
Details on the CDCs and the code development process can be found on the committee page.
Code Interpretation Committees (CICs)
The code development process, through the CICs, provides technical support to jurisdictions by issuing official interpretations of the I-Codes. These interpretations represent the ICC’s official position, although final authority rests with the code official.
There are currently five Interpretation Committees, and applications for new members are now open.
Code Correlation Committee (CCC)
The Code Council’s Code Correlation Committee is responsible for evaluating matters of consistency, coordination and format in the I-Codes. This includes determining matters of maintenance responsibility (scoping) of the Code Committees, identification of editorial revisions necessary in the I-Codes and correlation of technical provisions based on the actions taken at the Public Comment Hearing followed by the Online Governmental Consensus Vote.
The Code Council is accepting applications for members. The composition of the CCC is limited to the International Code Council Governmental Member Voting Representatives. 2027-2029 Code Correlation Committee members who are International Code Council Governmental Member Voting Representatives must reapply to be considered for re-appointment.

Code Development Schedule
The ICC Code Development Cycle for 2027–2029 features a structured schedule for Group A and Group B codes, with each group undergoing two Committee Action Hearings (CAHs) and culminating in a combined Public Comment Hearing (PCH). For Group A Codes, CAH #1 will be held April 13–22, 2027, followed by CAH #2 on September 15–22, 2027. For Group B Codes, CAH #1 is scheduled for May 1–9, 2028, and CAH #2 for October 18–27, 2028 (tentative). Each CAH is preceded by the posting of proposed changes and followed by public comment periods and the publication of committee reports.
Committee members are required to attend both Code Action Hearing #1 (CAH#1) and Code Action Hearing #2 (CAH#2) as part of their participation in the code development process.
The process concludes with a Combined Group A & B Public Comment Hearing (PCH) from April 22–May 1, 2029, where final public comments are considered. Shortly after the PCH, a Combined Group A & B Online Governmental Consensus Voting (OGCV) period begins, allowing governmental members to vote on the proposed changes in code. Committee members are not required to attend the Public Comment Hearing (PCH). The final action is posted following validation and confirmation by the ICC Board. This schedule ensures comprehensive review and stakeholder engagement for all major code updates in the cycle.
The detailed schedule can be found on our CDC page.
Note: All current committee members must reapply to be considered for reappointment.
