Joe Cain, P.E., is the director of Codes & Standards for the Solar Energy Industries Association. He leads the association’s efforts in advocacy for development of reasonable and pragmatic codes and standards for design and installation of safe, reliable solar energy systems. Cain is a licensed P.E. in civil engineering, dedicated to the solar industry since 2008. He is a voting member of the ASCE 7-22 Main Committee and Wind Loads Subcommittee; the Structural Engineers Association of California PV Systems Committee; and the 2018 ICC 700 NGBS Energy Task Group. His early career includes seven years as a building department plan checker.
