Carrollton Development Services Director Re-Elected to International Code Council Board

November 9th, 2011
by International Code Council
  • Press Releases

Ravi Shah, Director of Development Services for the city of Carrollton, Texas, has been re-elected as a Director on the International Code Council Board. He manages all Planning, Building Inspection and Transit-Oriented Development for Carrollton.

Through public/private sector collaboration, the Code Council provides support to government by developing codes that allow for safe and sustainable construction. As a result, government does not take on the high cost of developing its own codes and benefits from code uniformity that encourages local, affordable construction growth.

Shah was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulations, and served as Vice Chair to the Texas Industrialized Building Code Council. He was named “Building Official of the Year” by the University of Texas at Arlington Construction Research Center and the inaugural recipient of the Code Council’s “Raising the Profile” Award. He is a Past President of the Building Officials Association of Texas, and served as Vice Chair of the Building/Energy Subcommittee at the North Central Texas Council of Governments and a Co-Chair for the Building Professional Institute. He was part of an Expert Consulting Team sent to Afghanistan to strengthen the nation’s building codes and standards department.

“Our Directors devote a lot time and energy to volunteer for the International Code Council Board,” said International Code Council CEO Richard P. Weiland. “They could not serve on the board without the support of the jurisdictions they work for. We thank the Board members and their employers for their dedication to pursuing the goal of building safety and fire prevention.”

Shah holds degrees in Architecture and Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. As a class ‘A’ member of the Code Council, he earned numerous technical certifications and leadership credentials. He has served as a Director on the Code Council Board for three years. He was re-elected during the Council’s 2011 Annual Conference in November.

The International Code Council is a member-focused association dedicated to helping the building safety community and construction industry provide safe and sustainable construction through the development of codes and standards used in the design, build and compliance process. Most U.S. communities and many global markets choose the International Codes.
