Federal resources: COVID-19 information for code professionals

There’s a lot of information out there about COVID-19. As a building safety professional, here’s what you need to know:

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency  released guidance on critical functions that should continue normal operations. Many building and compliance activities are deemed critical.

Eligible entities in the U.S. may receive disaster relief funds appropriated by Congress to reimburse the costs of emergency measures to protect the public health and safety of their communities.

Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the University of Oregon have published a paper — 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak: A Review of the Current Literature and Built Environment Considerations to Reduce Transmission — outlining transmission pathways of COVID-19 in the built environment, hoping to provide the industry guidance on minimizing the virus’s spread.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is providing information for workers and employers about the COVID-19 pandemic, including hazard recognition, medical information for workers, control and prevention, quick facts and links to more information.

Information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how workplaces can plan, prepare and respond to COVID-19.

Federal Emergency Management Agency update on actions under the national emergency declaration.

Guidance from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency on critical functions that should continue normal operations in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

Federal Emergency Management Agency guidance on the types of emergency protective measures that may be eligible under its Public Assistance Program in accordance with the coronavirus Emergency Declaration.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s regional administrators have been delegated authority to approve requests for non-congregate sheltering.
