WICED and PTN to host the 8th Annual Day of Service for Habitat for Humanity

Every year since 2014, the chapters have donated their time and energy to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity

Celebrating their tradition, the Women in Code Enforcement and Development (WICED) and PermitTechNation (PTN) chapters of the Code Council will be holding their annual Day of Service on Saturday, September 10, 2022, for the Metro Louisville Habitat for Humanity in Louisville, Kentucky.

Every year since 2014, WICED and PTN chapters have donated their time and energy to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Some years, volunteers are on on-site, helping in the construction or restoration of homes; other years, volunteers work at Habitat ReStores. ReStores are non-profit, home improvement stores and donation centers operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations that sell new and gently used items to the public at a fraction of the retail price. All proceeds go to the support of Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to help build strength, stability, self-reliance and shelter in local communities and around the world.

Help build a home for a family in need at this year’s Day of Service

To date, the Metro Louisville Habitat for Humanity has built or rehabbed 572 homes and completed 213 home repair projects; there are several volunteer options available at this year’s event for you to get involved. WICED and PTN openly welcome all those attending the Code Council’s 2022 Annual Conference and others to join their efforts by volunteering to work or contributing donations to Habitat. If you are interested in volunteering, please save the date, and pre-register here.

ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) can be earned by volunteering in the build. Volunteer logo build shirts will also be available to those who register early, to be guaranteed a shirt, volunteers must sign up by August 5, 2022. Transportation to and from the site, food and beverages will be provided.

WICED is an ICC Chapter that promotes the value and recognition of women in the arena of code enforcement and development. The Chapter was formed in 2007 to provide mentoring, advocacy and education to these women.

PTN is an ICC Chapter that promotes the value and recognition of permit technicians as well as assisting States that do not have a permit tech chapter with organizing an association or chapter. The Chapter was formed in 2016 to provide mentoring, advocacy and education for those in this position.
