International Code Council’s 2026 Annual Conference Pre-Event Guide

The 2026 International Code Council (ICC) Annual Conference and Expo (Oct. 18–21) is right around the corner. Scheduled to take place at the glorious Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee – the largest non-casino resort in the United States – attendees can look forward to a one-of-a-kind experience in Music City.

In addition to having many opportunities to network, learn and grow your career in building safety, this year’s event will feature a special performance by award-winning country music star and Grand Ole Opry inductee Scotty McCreery. Former NASA Astronaut and Columbia University professor Mike Massimino, Ph.D., is slated to give an inspiring, can’t-miss keynote.

To help you make the most of your conference experience, we’ve put together a brief guide to highlight all the must-see events.

Hotel and Travel

All conference events will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, except where noted. Rooms are still available at the Fairfield by Marriott Nashville at Opryland.

Guests can fly in via Nashville International Airport (BNA), which is roughly 15 minutes away from the Gaylord Opryland Resort. Shuttle service is available on select days.

WICED/PTN/ICC Day of Service

Saturday, Oct. 17, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Join Women in Code Enforcement Development (WICED), PermitTechNation (PTN), and ICC for a Day of Service supporting Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville. All volunteers will earn 0.7 ICC CEUs; bus transportation, lunch and a special volunteer t-shirt will be provided. Register here.

Pre-Conference Walking Architectural Tour of Nashville

Saturday, Oct. 17, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

This sold-out tour will take attendees on a guided tour of Greek Revival, Gothic Revival and Italianate Victorian designs of the 19th century, as well as Art Deco and Art Moderne skyscrapers built in the 20th century.

Ron Burton Golf Outing at Gaylord Springs Golf Links

Sunday, Oct. 18, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The Past Presiding Officers of ICC will host the Annual Ron Burton Golf Outing at Gaylord Springs Golf Links. This event raises funds for training and resources to benefit the next generation of code officials.

First Timers, Honorary Members, Global Guests and Building Safety Leadership Experience (BSLE) Welcome Reception

Sunday, Oct. 18, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Networking is front and center at the 2026 ICC Annual Conference and Expo. At this event, first-time attendees, international guests and BSLE participants can meet, chat and connect with Honorary Members about all things building safety.

Expo Talks

Sunday, Oct. 18, 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 19, 2:30 – 5:00 p.m.

These quick, 30-minute presentations occur in the Expo hall and will discuss new alarm transmission requirements, the benefits of joining an ICC membership council or committee, the importance of submitting a code change proposal, and more. Earn .05 ICC CEUs for each session.

Technicolor Transport Team Challenge

Sunday, Oct. 18, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

The Technicolor Transport Team Challenge returns this year, allowing attendees to team up to design and build a working machine that correctly transports different fluids to specific locations.

Annual Business Meeting

Monday, Oct. 19, 8:00 – 10:15 a.m.

Great food and great company are two of the highlights of this event, which includes the installation of our Board of Directors and recognition of outstanding achievements.

Local Attractions

2026 ICC Annual Conference and Expo attendees can also participate in a number of building tours. Note that all building tours sold out ahead of the conference this year, but attendees can still peruse each venue separately in between their busy schedule.

Belmont Mansion Tour: Built more than 150 years ago in Nashville, Tennessee, Belmont Mansion was initially constructed to serve as a summer home for Adelicia Hayes Acklen Franklin Cheatham and her second husband, Joseph Acklen. Today it serves tourists and Nashville locals as one of the city’s remarkable museums.

Two Rivers Mansion Tour: In a city known for having notable and historic mansions, Two Rivers Mansion stands apart for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, in addition to the mid-1800s mansion, guests can peruse the 1802 House, which is estimated to have been built in the early 1800s. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ryman Auditorium and Opry House Backstage Tour: Coldplay has referred to the Ryman Auditorium as the greatest theater in the world, and there isn’t a country artist out there who hasn’t dreamed of playing at the Opry.

Nissan Stadium/Titans Town Tour: This tour provides attendees with an exclusive sneak peek at the new Nissan Stadium, an indoor venue that will replace the old Nissan Stadium when it opens in 2027.
