For easy access and application for codes and standards users, the International Code Council (ICC) is collaborating with key standards developers and organizations, such as the American Wood Council (AWC), to make the vast array of construction industry safety standards referenced in the 2012 International Codes® available to the building industry on the ICC website.

“In today’s mobile, digital environment, building officials and other professionals demand information anytime, anywhere—including industry standards,” said ICC Senior Vice President of Business and Product Development Mark Johnson. “We’re proud to announce American Wood Council additions to our growing digital standards library.”

The latest series of standards from the AWC available in the ICC digital standards library include:

  • 2012 National Design Specification for Wood Construction (ANSI/AWC NDS-2012) & 2012 NDS Design Values Supplement [NEW]
  • 2012 Wood Frame Construction Manual for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (ANSI/AWC WFCM-2012) [NEW]
  • 2008 Special Design Provisions for Wind and Seismic Standard (ANSI /AF&PA SDPWS-2008)
  • 2005 National Design Specification for Wood Construction (ANSI/AF&PA NDS-2005) & 2005 NDS Design Values Supplement
  • 2001 Wood Frame Construction Manual for One- and Two-Family Dwellings & Commentary to the WFCM (ANSI/AF&PA WFCM-2001)
  • Permanent Wood Foundation Design Specification (ANSI/AF&PA PWF – 2007)

To download American Wood Council standards, visit the ICC website.

The following documents also are available for free with the purchase of one or more of the standards listed above:

  • Span Tables for Joists and Rafters (AWC-2012) including Design Values for Joists and Rafter
  • WFCM Caribbean Basin Builders’ Guide
  • WFCM High Wind Guides (for various wind zones) — based on 2001 WFCM
  • Wood Construction Data — Plank and Beam framing for Residential Buildings (WCD
    No. 4 — 2003)
  • Wood Frame Construction Manual Workbook: Design of Wood Frame Buildings for High Wind, Snow and Seismic Loads — based on 2001 WFCM

“ICC works with more than 25 standards developers,” Johnson said. “The Code Council will continue to expand its developer network to best meet the needs of building professionals. Stay tuned for more digitally-formatted standards from our partners throughout the year.”
