How the Ohio Board of Building Standards is Creating a New Pathway to Building Inspector
The Ohio Board of Building Standards is bringing younger people, or people that traditionally didn't qualify, into the profession.
Upon realizing that the majority of their workforce is nearing retirement, the Ohio Board of Building Standards went looking to recruit the next generation of building safety professionals. The goal was to compel younger individuals or people who wouldn’t traditionally qualify for the trade to join the building safety industry.
They addressed the challenge by establishing a new pathway to become a building inspector. By providing the training directly, the Ohio Board of Building Standards removes the traditional requirement for a set number of years of prior experience.
Jayden Ashford is currently paving his way to becoming a building inspector as a result of this new program. Watch the video below to see how the Ohio Board of Building Standards’ program works for him.
