Leadership training is aimed at giving leaders new skills that are essential to success. As a leader, your success is dependent on the success of the people you’re leading. When you are in a role with a higher level of responsibility, technical skills are crucial, but they cannot stand alone. You must move beyond technical expertise to incorporate and utilize tactical leadership skills. One of the most important qualities of a leader is resiliency. The true grit of a leader is not how well they do during the good times but how well they do during the difficult times. This webinar will cover resiliency in leadership and will give you an overview of the traits needed to become more resilient. Join Ron Lynn, former Building Official for Clark County and past presiding officer of ICC for an engaging discussion on how to become a more resilient leader.
Leadership is hard and trying to do it all by yourself is a recipe for disaster. To be successful you need help from a mentor and you need to pass on your knowledge by being a mentor. Join Dwayne Garriss, Georgia State Fire Marshal and past presiding officer of ICC, for a presentation to learn about improving your mentorship skills.

The truth is, being a great leader often implies having to face difficulties and challenges and you need courage to overcome those difficulties and to meet the many challenges that will come your way! The Past Presiding Officers of the International Code Council are an organization of past presidents and chairmen of the Code Council and its predecessor organizations, who, combined, represent more than 300 years of experience in code administration and leadership in code development activities. Recognizing the need to encourage and mentor the next generation of code officials and to provide for the continued education of individuals who seek a profession in code administration, the Past Presiding Officers work to provide training and resources for the next generation of code officials and to address the critical need for future leaders in our profession. The group raises funds to encourage, educate and mentor emerging professionals in different parts of the industry — emphasizing the value of leadership and management skills as an important supplement to technical expertise — and outline the skills and abilities they will need to become expert code professionals. Programs focus not on codes, but on the soft skills a person can use to get to where they want to go in their careers.
