Public Comment Period Is Open for ICC 825 Standard
In accordance with the International Code Council’s Consensus Procedures, the public comment draft #1 of ICC 825, Private Sewage Disposal Systems Standard, is available for public input. The public comment period will close on April 27, 2026.
This new standard will provide minimum requirements for designing, constructing, operating and maintaining private sewage disposal systems which include septic tank and effluent absorption systems, or other treatment tank and effluent disposal systems, where a public sewer is not available. Furthermore, the new standard will focus on the impacts of climate change, and how better to design and install such systems to be more resilient to extreme weather events.

Comments must be actionable by the committee, submitted on the provided form and submitted to Jennifer Hess, Committee Secretariat, jhess@iccsafe.org by April 27, 2026.
