The International Code Council, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and Construction Week Middle East (ME) are collaborating to co-host the 8th annual CSCEC ME Technical Conference in Dubai, UAE, on July 5, 2024. This year’s conference, Unveiling New Grounds with Modular Construction for a Heightened Future, promises to explore the latest advancements in modular construction.

A Platform for Knowledge Sharing in the Modular Construction Industry

CSCEC ME’s annual technical conference is renowned for being the company’s largest knowledge-sharing platform. This year, it has been tailored to feature engaging topics presented by key industry experts and global specialists.

“The 8th CSCEC ME Technical Conference represents a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing modular construction technologies,” said Mansour Faried, Chief Engineer at CSCEC. “Partnering with the Code Council and Construction Week Middle East allows us to bring together leading experts to share knowledge and drive the industry towards a more sustainable and efficient future.”

The conference aims to deliver valuable insights through stage presentations and discussion panels, emphasizing the core aspects of off-site prefabrication and modular construction. Attendees will benefit from top-tier case studies, system displays and modular technology demonstrations. The unified goal is to promote the safe adoption of innovative and sustainable construction practices within the built environment.

Code Council Participation at the Modular Construction Conference

The Code Council will deliver a keynote speech highlighting the International Codes® (I-Codes) and the Code Council’s family of solutions. Special emphasis will be placed on the Code Council’s off-site construction solutions and the recently developed ICC/MBI off-site construction standards, covering:

  • Planning, design, fabrication and assembly
  • Inspection and regulatory compliance
  • MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing), energy efficiency and water conservation

The keynote speech will also emphasize the Code Council’s in-house training and education programs, which benchmark professionals’ skills and required credentials in code-based training and personnel certification. In collaboration with the Modular Building Institute (MBI), the Code Council has recently introduced the Off-Site Construction Credential of Learning Achievement (CLA). This training program, based on the jointly developed ICC/MBI standards, equips building safety professionals and manufacturers’ quality assurance personnel with the necessary expertise.

The keynote speech will be jointly presented by Mohamed Amer, Regional Director of Operations – Code Council MENA, and Ryan Colker, Vice President of Innovation at the Code Council.

“We are excited to co-host this exceptional conference with CSCEC and Construction Week Middle East,” said Mohamed Amer. “The focus on modular construction and off-site prefabrication aligns with our mission to promote safe, sustainable and innovative construction practices globally. This event will provide invaluable insights and foster collaboration among key industry stakeholders.”

Additionally, Mohamed Amer will moderate a session titled Navigating the Future: Challenges and Opportunities in Offsite Construction. This session will delve into the challenges faced by specialists—consultants, contractors, developers, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and others—and explore the opportunities and prospects that off-site construction offers. The panel will feature respected key personnel from the industry, including developers, contractors and AHJs, sharing their insights and experiences.

The Code Council will also have an exhibition booth at the conference to showcase its comprehensive range of solutions through roll-ups and sell sheets. This will include the offering of Evaluation Service Reports (ESRs) which provide a stringent compliance pathway for innovative building systems and methods. These compliance reports are particularly useful as they provide third-party approvals for modular framing members, connectors and panels.

This initiative aims to further raise awareness and educate the market about the Code Council’s service offerings in the realm of building safety.

Unlocking the Future of Modular Construction

Attendees will also gain valuable knowledge from industry leaders on the latest trends and innovations in modular construction through insightful presentations. The event offers numerous networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with key industry stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, developers and regulatory authorities.

Additionally, attendees will witness live demonstrations of cutting-edge modular construction technologies and systems, providing a hands-on understanding of these advancements. Expert panels will facilitate discussions on the challenges and opportunities in off-site construction, offering a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences.

Moreover, the conference will emphasize industry benchmarking, enabling attendees to learn about best practices and benchmark market performance to stay ahead of industry standards.

Through this event, the Code Council aims to push the boundaries toward the safe adoption of new construction methods, fostering collaboration and innovation for a sustainable future.
