The 2025 recipients of the Chapter Merit Award are Building Officials of Palm Beach County, Maryland Building Officials Association and San Diego Fire Prevention Officers Association.
The Building Officials of Palm Beach County chapter is committed to supporting the next generation of industry professionals through scholarships, mentorship and continuing education, while also ensuring code enforcement across Palm Beach County. The Maryland Building Officials Association (MBOA) actively offers training programs, committee participation and workgroups to its members in an effort to continuously build upon their skills and expertise. In support of the next generation of professionals, they provide mentorship programs, networking events and hands-on-training opportunities to connect experienced members with newcomers.

Chapter of the Year Award: Big Sky Country – Montana’s ICC Chapter
The Chapter of the Year Award is the Code Council’s highest award bestowed upon a chapter. It recognizes extraordinary performance by an ICC chapter in promoting the goals and mission of the organization.
The 2025 recipient of the Chapter of the Year Award is Big Sky Country- Montana’s ICC Chapter.
In recent years, Big Sky Country – Montana’s ICC Chapter faced serious challenges. However, under the leadership of a new Board of Directors, the chapter has been revitalized. In 2025, they were able to fill all essential chapter positions, stabilize their status as a nonprofit and re-engage on local, state and national levels – all while staying focused on their mission.
Public outreach is a significant part of the chapter’s mission. In 2025, Big Sky Country created networking opportunities for code officials across the state and began outreach to local high schools to inspire and guide the next generation of building safety professionals.
Additionally, through regular engagement with state authorities, the chapter has an active part in shaping legislation and providing insight into code interpretations.
Getting Involved Through ICC Chapters
ICC chapters are groups of code officials and industry-related professionals run by volunteers who support and promote the mission and goals of the ICC at the local, state and international level. Chapters create partnerships with members of the building community and increase public awareness about the value of code officials in our everyday lives.
ICC is supported by over 400 chapters across the U.S. and around the world. Chapters are designated as regional, state, local, professional, student, global or sovereign depending on the geographical area they serve and the nature of their membership. Every ICC chapter is different with many focusing on a particular discipline such as building safety, fire prevention, mechanical and plumbing.
