In an era where skilled labor is both invaluable and in high demand, nurturing the next generation of building safety professionals is essential for the sustainable growth of the industry. The International Code Council’s Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fuel Gas (PMG) Technical Resources Team stands to not only support the advancement of PMG codes, but also to foster the talents and passions of aspiring tradespeople.

Through our active involvement in prestigious competitions like the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and SkillsUSA State and National Championships, we not only demonstrate our dedication to excellence but also extend a hand of opportunity to those embarking on their journey in the skilled trades.

Supporting the Code Council’s International Codes® (I-Codes) is a responsibility we uphold with pride. These codes serve as the cornerstone of safety, efficiency and innovation in PMG systems. By participating in competitions, we not only showcase the importance of adherence to these codes but also inspire the next generation to uphold these standards with diligence and expertise.

Skilled Labor Competitions: Empowering Competitors to Excel in Their Field

Our involvement in ABC and SkillsUSA competitions goes beyond mere sponsorship or observation; it’s about investing in the future workforce. These events provide a platform for talented individuals to demonstrate their skills, creativity and dedication. As judges, mentors and supporters, we offer guidance, feedback and encouragement, nurturing the potential within each competitor and empowering them to excel in their chosen field.

Our engagement in these competitions serves as a means to connect with existing Code Council members and raise awareness among those who may not yet be familiar with the Code Council and the wealth of resources we offer. From professional development opportunities to access to the latest industry standards and technical expertise, we strive to be a steadfast companion throughout every stage of a professional’s career journey.

Moreover, our participation in these events enables us to promote career development pathways for individuals who may not have previously considered the ample opportunities available in the skilled trades. By highlighting the diverse career options, potential prospects and pathways for advancement within the PMG industry, we aim to inspire a new generation of tradespeople who are passionate about making a meaningful impact through their work.

The industry wins when we invest in competitions and career development initiatives.  Together, let us continue to champion excellence, innovation and opportunity, ensuring a brighter future for all who are passionate about building a better world through their craft.
