Supporting the 2025 Career and Technical Education Month

February 12th, 2025
by International Code Council
  • Quick Hits

Every February, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) leads Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a nationwide campaign sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders.

This initiative celebrates the value of CTE programs, highlights their accomplishments and underscores their critical role in preparing students of all ages for successful careers in critical industries.

The White House recognized the importance of CTE through a Presidential Proclamation issued earlier this month.

The International Code Council’s Commitment to CTE

The International Code Council actively supports ACTE in promoting CTE Month and remains dedicated to preparing the next generation of professionals in the building safety fields.

Through its Safety 2.0 initiative, the Code Council invests in education and training opportunities to equip students with the skills needed for careers in construction in building safety.

A key component of this effort is the Technical Training Program (TTP), a flexible educational framework based on the Code Council’s International Residential Code®.  Divided into five disciplines – building, plumbing, HVAC (mechanical), electrical and energy – the TTP allows instructors to integrate one or more disciplines into their existing construction trade curricula, helping students build a strong foundation for careers in the industry.

Read a success story on the TTP here.

Beyond the TTP, the Code Council offers a variety of career development resources, including career path tools, training, credentialing and mentorship opportunities. The Code Council further supports the industry by participating in competitions for high school students such as SkillsUSA, and through its partnership with ConstructReach and its “I Built This” events.

For professionals at any stage of their career, the Code Council provides training and development opportunities, including ICC Learn Live, a series of online courses covering a diverse set of topics spanning the entire spectrum of building safety, fire and life safety, administration, enforcement, construction and emerging topics. Instructors will include trusted Code Council staff, regional teaching members and partner organization representatives.
