In place since 1993, the Code Council’s National UST Certification Program is utilized by numerous states that require individuals pass Code Council exams in one or more of UST/AST categories.
The Code Council, a non-profit organization, also develops a full set of comprehensive and coordinated national model construction codes, the International Codes, which are adopted at either the state or jurisdictional level throughout the U.S. and in a growing number of countries around the world. The Certification and Testing Services department develops the certification programs used by jurisdictions and state agencies to ensure competent professionals are employed.

Committee Service
Committees are an important part of the Code Council UST/AST Certification and Examination Program. The following committee provides oversight and development and maintenance functions for the Program.
In addition to the UST/AST EDC, several other Exam Development Committees exist on a state level that function to develop and maintain state specific UST/AST exams. Many of these state committees are ad-hoc in nature, with members being appointed by the state agencies.
