Lewis has been a code official in major and small jurisdictions

Cyndi LewisThe International Code Council’s new Government Relations Manager for Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas brings a rare combination of public and the private sector building industry experience to serve jurisdictions, Members and Chapters. For more than 15 years, Cyndi Lewis served as a code official for major and small jurisdictions. She has a wide range of experience and knowledge of building codes, code compliance, code management, inspection, plan review and instruction. Lewis will be headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, located just hours from most jurisdictions in her territory, including state capitals.

Prior to coming to ICC, Lewis served Texas jurisdictions in the capacities of Residential and Commercial Plans Examiner, Assistant Building Official, and Chief Building Official for Building Inspection and Development Departments during times of substantial building stock growth.

Lewis worked for Texas A&M University’s Energy Systems Laboratory at the Texas Engineering Experiment Station as a principal investigator responsible for the program management of Texas Senate Bill 5, the state’s emissions reduction plan. She managed training programs, teamed to track and draft legislation, developed grant proposals, participated in code development, and was liaison to federal, state and local governmental units. She provided technical code assistance to a vast network of professionals in the building industry and worked with Texas jurisdictions to draft amendments based on the Texas Building Energy Performance Standards.

Lewis has broad experience in public speaking, educational presentations and proposal writing. She served as a member of the International Code Council Education Committee, the Building Officials Association of Texas Board of Directors, and several regional and local boards and committees. She was an adjunct professor at Dallas County Community College, teaching in the Residential Building Performance Technology Program. She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University and holds several ICC certifications.
