Congratulations on your decision to join the International Code Council; the largest building and safety code organization dedicated to protecting the property, health and safety of people worldwide. Below you will find everything you need to know about our membership categories. Choose your category, and then fill out an online or PDF application to join ICC for the first time or reinstate* your membership.
Your ICC Membership Status will fall into one of three categories:
Government/Municipality (includes agencies, departments & units) engaged in administration, formulation or enforcement of laws, regulations or ordinances relating to public health, safety and welfare.
A Governmental Member may designate 4-12 voting representatives (based on population) who are employees or officials of that governmental member and are actively engaged full or part-time in the administration, formulation or enforcement of laws, regulations or ordinances relating to public health, safety and welfare. Governmental Members have voting rights. Read the ICC By-Laws , Articles II and III to learn more, including the allowed number of Governmental Member Voter Representatives (GMVRs.)
Deadline to join as a new Governmental Member or to reinstate as an expired Governmental Member to be eligible to participate in this year’s code development cycle and Annual Business meeting is March 18, 2016. An organization such as an association, society, testing laboratory, institute, company, manufacturer or corporation, interested in the purposes and objectives of the Council. Any government organization not meeting the criteria of a Governmental Member as described in Section 2.1.1 of the ICC bylaws may also join as a Corporate Member.

Note: Each Participating Member receives a new member kit, a subscription to the Building Safety Journal Online magazine, exclusive access to the members-only area of the website, and discounts on products and services. A Participating Member does not receive access to ICC code opinions nor a complimentary International Code.
