Major Jurisdictions Committee

Message from the Chair

I want to welcome you to the Major Jurisdiction Council (MJC) website. Here you will find information on some of the best practices utilized in the United States and nations abroad concerning department administration, code enforcement and role of the code official. In addition to best practices, information has been gathered on such diverse topics as staffing, salaries, building condemnations, and community redevelopment. MJC is the premiere contact portal for federal, state, and major jurisdictions and is a representative example of the synergetic power that code officials working together can generate for the benefit of all our communities.

While many topics were subject to discussion at the Annual Business Meeting, please look at our minutes for the details of the 2013 work plan which includes collection of information on permit fees, both actual numbers and basis; special events management; issues surrounding the IGCC and green code adoptions; and an initiative to collect strategic plans throughout the nation to simplify ongoing development for every jurisdiction and member of ICC.

I encourage all those eligible to join MJC and for everyone to participate in our initiatives and contribute their best practices either through the Major Jurisdictions website or our best practice partner; the International Accreditation Service (IAS).

I look forward to working with all of you throughout the year, and remember MJC is here to make it easier and more effective for you to run your organization.
