ICC Board Member

David Molnar is the 2025 President of the Ohio Board of Building Officials and has served on their Board of Directors since 2018 in various capacities. While volunteering for the state ICC Chapter, he works for Summit County Building Standards as a Master Plans Examiner where he reviews various commercial projects for compliance with building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy and fire safety systems.

David is also employed part-time by the City of Aurora, OH, as their Building Official. Since starting his first public service job in Canton, OH, over 12 years ago, he has been active with the Five County Building Officials Association (a local ICC Chapter), where he served as President for four years. Prior to serving the public, David Molnar invested 25 years in the architectural profession - designing, consulting and administering projects ranging from simple office alterations to multimillion-dollar mixed use projects.

His certifications include Building Official, Master Plans Examiner, Interim Building Inspector and FEMA Disaster Response and Incident Command. One of David’s core passions is sharing his understanding of the codes and their structure and reinforcing the first thing he was taught about the code: “This is a tool to answer questions, not to make problems.”
