Deadline to submit applications to IECC Development Committees fast approaching
All individuals dedicated to advancing safety and sustainability in communities are encouraged to apply before Friday, April 23

Washington, D.C. –  The application submission period for the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) Development Committees will close on Friday, April 23 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Under the Code Council’s new frameworkLeading the Way to Energy Efficiency: A Path Forward on Energy and Sustainability to Confront a Changing Climate, the IECC will be developed by the combined efforts of a Residential Energy Code Consensus Committee and a Commercial Energy Code Consensus Committee.

The committee members are an essential component of updating the IECC. The responsibilities of the committees include reviewing and evaluating public input, considering the market-readiness of technologies, and producing a code that meets the requirements contained in the new scope, intent and principles.  Applicants should represent at least one of the nine identified interest groups – manufacturers, builders, standards promulgators/testing laboratories, users, utilities, consumers, public segments, government regulators and insurance. All appointments will be consistent with Code Council Policies 7 and 12 and the Code Council’s Consensus Procedures.

“The IECC Development Committees give dedicated professionals the opportunity to advance the vision and work required to help communities and the building sector meet energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction goals,” said Dominic Sims, CBO, Chief Executive Officer of the Code Council. “The new framework for the IECC ensures continuous maintenance, ongoing participation of a diverse group of experts and the flexibility to incorporate provisions responsive to technological advances.”

All interested parties are encouraged to apply to participate on the Residential Energy Code Consensus Committee or Commercial Energy Code Consensus Committee by visiting www.iccsafe.org/energy.
