Industry Professionals are Registering for ICC’s Annual Conference…Have You?

Key Events Include Interactive Drone Workshop, Building Safety & Design Expo, and Public Comment Hearings for the 2018 International Codes

Ever flown a drone at a conference or industry event? Attendees registered for the International Code Council’s (ICC) 2016 Annual Conference and Public Comment Hearings will be able to and participate in several other professionally rewarding events Oct. 16-18 at the Kansas City, Mo., Convention Center.

The industry’s latest products, services and technologies will be on display during the 2016 Building Safety & Design Expo. An interactive workshop will address the latest features and applications for drone use and allow attendees to guide the crafts on aerial tours of the expo hall.

The conference will feature a comprehensive education program that will provide valuable solutions to the most critical challenges in the building safety and fire prevention professions. Attendees will also be able to earn valuable CEUs and LUs.

Global Connections Day 2016, sponsored by the ICC Family of Companies, will focus on the challenges presented by the evolutionary process toward sustainability by assessing its impact on the role of building codes, standards, and regulations in the global as-built marketplace.  Guest speakers will include Kateri Callahan, Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance to Save Energy, and Radhika Fox, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Water Alliance.

The 2nd Annual Ron Burton Golf Outing will raise funds to develop training opportunities and resources for the next generation of code officials. Conducted by ICC’s Past Presiding Officers, the event is held in honor of the late William Ronald “Ron” Burton, a renowned code expert who worked on many code-related projects for the Code Council, Building Owners and Managers Association International, and the National Association of Home Builders.

The Group B Public Comment Hearings for the 2018 International Codes, Oct. 18-25, at the Kansas City Convention Center, will provide attendees an opportunity to help develop the next generation of I-Codes to foster safety, innovation and affordability in the building safety and fire prevention industry. The Group B I-Codes consist of:

  • Administrative provisions in all codes;
  • Structural chapters in the International Building and International Existing Building Codes;
  • Building and energy chapters in the International Residential Code;
  • All chapters in the International Fire, International Energy Conservation and International Wildland-Urban Interface Codes.
