International Code Council Welcomes Mark Fasel
Industry veteran joins the Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fuel Gas (PMG) Department
Washington, D.C. – Plumbing expert Mark Fasel recently joined the International Code Council as a Director of Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fuel Gas (PMG) Resources. As part of his responsibilities, Fasel will work with the Code Council’s team of experts to develop, coordinate, and implement PMG programs and services related to the International Codes (I-Codes).
“Water and energy efficiency concerns have become increasingly important in community discussions. As a trusted source of model codes, standards, and support services, it is essential we listen to these concerns to provide codes, tools, and resources that people can rely on, turn to, and trust in,” said Dominic Sims, CBO, Chief Executive Officer, International Code Council. “We are pleased to welcome Fasel to the team as his expertise and knowledge in the field will greatly enhance our ability to support our members and advance our building safety mission.”
“I am excited to have Mark on our PMG team to help educate and train contractors, code officials, and industry professionals on what the Code Council has to offer when it comes to plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, and swimming pool/spa codes, standards, and services,” says Matt Sigler, Code Council PMG Executive Director. “I have known Mark for over two decades. His expertise, energy, and leadership skills will help us to expand the adoption of ICC’s PMG codes and advance the building safety infrastructure throughout the U.S.”
Mark brings with him 28 years of experience in the field and a wealth of knowledge from working with both state and government agencies. Prior to joining the Code Council, Fasel was Manager of Government Affairs and Codes & Standards for North America at Viega LLC where he was responsible for Viega’s policies and objectives involving state and federal government affairs, codes, and standards to represent and protect organizational interests in the U.S. and Canada.
“Having been a member of the Code Council since its inception and serving on a variety of committees as a building official, I have always admired the professionalism and knowledge ICC continuously provides its members,” said Fasel. “If you want to be the best in your professional field, the Code Council has the resources to help you achieve your goals. I am grateful for this opportunity, the amazingly talented team I get to work with, and I am excited at the chance to help develop others in their professions moving forward.”
