State AdoptionsIn 2009 the Oklahoma Legislature created the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC). The OUBCC is responsible for the adoption of all codes and standards for the construction industry including; building, residential, energy conservation, existing buildings, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas and fire codes. Local Governments are not mandated to adopt and enforce codes but if they do, they must adopt the codes of the OUBCC and any local amendments must be approved by the OUBCC. *Some I-Codes are adopted by local governments that are not named in legislation or by the OUBCC. The OUBCC adopts the following statewide minimum codes:
