CodeNotes: ICC’s best-kept secret
As part of its goal to serve the needs of plumbing, mechanical and fuel gas (PMG) officials, the ICC PMG Official Membership Council continues to be committed to providing free, informative code support documents known as CodesNotes™. Topics include backflow devices and the protection of our water supply, gas pipe sizing based on the latest edition of the International Fuel Gas Code and the International Residential Code, and bonding of corrugated stainless steel tubing gas piping systems, just to name a few. We have recently expanded our CodesNotes collection to include a selection of notes offered in Spanish.

Have you heard the saying that “a picture is worth a thousand words”? That was the reason behind the development of CodeNotes. The members of the PMG Membership Council Governing Committee saw the need for good tailgate training material for building departments’ weekly supplemental training. It was important that they include graphics that would complement an informative document.
The ICC PMG Official Membership Council website offers many resources. The council — open to all ICC members and serving the needs of PMG officials and industry professionals — consists of a great team of professionals who are willing to share their technical expertise and experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss issues that you face as a community, and how ICC might best serve you. If you haven’t already done so, please go online and become a member of the PMG Official Membership Council.
The Code Council is accepting applications for its Membership Council Governing Committees. Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2018. Each Membership Council Governing Committee acts as a liaison between its council and the ICC Board of Directors — providing feedback and recommendations to the board regarding various ICC services, helping build and improve relationships with stakeholders, and acting as an advocate for areas of professional or technical interest important to the members.
Don’t forget about the many PMG resource products that ICC offers through its online store. In the “Categories” section on the left you will see a tab labeled “Topics.” Click on the tab for a drop-down menu that includes [Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas (PMG)]. Click on it and you will be surprised on the many PMG products available.
