The International Code Council (ICC), under a Government of Bangladesh and World Bank financed project contract from the Capital Development of Authority of Bangladesh, has developed a structural engineers’ (SEng) registration program for the country. ICC developed and instructors selected by ICC delivered 48 three-hour courses on structural topics, based on the Bangladesh National Building Code, 2020 Edition. ICC also developed a rigorous two-day 12-hour written exam, which was administered by the Department of Civil Engineering of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). 124 candidates passed the written exam, which they took after meeting pre-announced eligibility criteria and after taking a required minimum number of the training courses. Each of these candidates was awarded a “Certificate of Recognition” by ICC, which was presented to him or her by Dr. S. K. Ghosh (the Team Leader of S-09 component) at the end of a technical seminar at the Public Works Department (PWD) auditorium in Dhaka on May 10, 2023.
