Seismic Restraint of Nonstructural Components

Nonstructural damage has accounted for the majority of damage observed in recent earthquakes in the United States. This seminar will clarify what non-structural components are, what the code requires in regard to seismic restraint, and will also discuss some of the significant changes that have been made to ASCE 7-22, as adopted in the 2024 IBC. A major portion of the discussion will revolve around what submittals should be provided to local building departments in addition to the special inspection requirements outlined in the IBC for nonstructural components.
