Building safety in St. Lucia is the responsibility of the Ministry of Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation. There was some involvement by St. Lucia in the revision of the CUBiC building code developed by the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, but the code has not been adopted or implemented. Some enforcement of building standards occurs through the Physical Planning Section.
The St. Lucia Bureau of Standards was involved in the development of the CARICOM Regional Energy Efficiency Building Code (CREEBC), which is based on the International Energy Conservation Code. The CREEBC is in the process of being adopted and implemented in the country.
