The Code Council names Gabe Maser vice president of federal relations

Maser will advocate for regularly updated building safety codes and other legislative priorities of ICC and its members at the federal level

Washington, D.C. – The International Code Council welcomes Gabe Maser as the vice president of federal relations. Maser will manage and direct the Code Council’s federal policy and legislative priorities agenda, and maintain and enhance ICC’s advocacy presence in Washington, D.C.

The Code Council promotes safe buildings and resilient communities through the adoption of modern, up-to-date, and cost efficient codes and standards. In support of its 64,000 members, the ICC Government Relations department educates policymakers and civic leaders at all levels of government about the importance of building safety, building codes and the role of code officials. In particular, the vice president of federal relations builds relationships on the federal level with the U.S. Congress, the White House and federal agencies.

Maser brings an extensive background in government relations and federal policy to his role at the Code Council. Most recently, he served as a regional director for market expansion and policy at Renovate America. Previously, he worked as the director of federal-state relations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; a legislative assistant for a member of Congress; and an associate at Baker Botts L.L.P. Maser has a bachelor’s degree in biology from McGill University and a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a licensed lawyer in the District of Columbia and Massachusetts.

“We’re excited to welcome Gabe to the ICC family. His background and experience will help us strengthen our relationships with key decision-makers in the executive and legislative branches and provide a strong voice in Washington, D.C., for our members,” said ICC Senior Vice President of Government Relations Sara Yerkes.
