ICC encourages communities to take advantage of the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support your local code programs. In April 2013, ICC, in conjunction with Sustainable Strategies DC (S2) and HUD, developed the ICC Guide on HUD CDBG Funds for Local Code Programs and hosted a training webinar on the topic. These valuable tools can help communities and local code officials understand how the HUD CDBG program can be used to help prevent or eliminate slums, blight or other community challenges. These materials are made available to ICC Members for free, and Members may sign in to access the CDBG Video, PowerPoint and Guide Book.
The Guidebook is now also available for purchase by the general public. Please visit the ICC Store for more information.
If you are not an ICC Member, but would like to sign up to gain immediate access to these materials, please visit our Membership page to review a full list of Member benefits and to enroll.
For communities that needs additional technical assistance, grant writing and strategic counsel in obtaining HUD CDBG funds, S2 is available as a fee-based provider.
