Texas State Technical College (TSTC) Waco Campus introduced ICC’s CTTP in 2015 to students in their Building Construction Technology course. Students in this program have excelled and are advancing to take the Building Inspectors certification exam. They are finding the CTTP to be an excellent foundation for achieving additional ICC certifications. TSTC expanded the program in 2017 to their Harlingen Campus with similar success. Instructors say contractors have expressed a desire to employ TSTC students with ICC certificates.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT), Williamsport, Penn., is one of eight colleges currently in the ICC College Technical Training Program. In 2014, the COC was implemented into the existing Carpentry and Building Construction Technology program.

PCT’s School of Construction and Design Technologies offers curriculum in the following:

  • Residential Construction Technology and Management: Building Construction Technology Concentration
  • Residential Construction Technology and Management: Architectural Technology Concentration
  • Residential Construction Technology and Management: Building Construction Technology - Masonry Concentration

Each can lead to an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or a Bachelor of Science degree. The program at PCT expanded in 2016 to include the Codes, Specifications and Estimating curriculum.

Instructors say students see the curriculum as a tool not only to learn the codes but to enhance career opportunities in the construction industry. Penn College has a 96 percent employment rate for their graduates: the students who complete the AA degree are heavily recruited and many have signed letters of employment in most cases prior to graduation.

Important change to PDF versions of the International Codes

Act now to update your PDF download or CD.
Effective December 15, ICC will convert I-Codes, State Codes and selected other publications from protectedPDF to a newer, more versatile Watermark version.

The advantage of the Watermark version is that you can use the codes on tablets and phones. Also, you will no longer be limited to using just Adobe Reader—the new files work with any PDF reader. If you have to enter a serial number to access your books, then you need to upgrade to the latest version. However, if your PDF has a watermark at the bottom of each page, you have the current version. And if you have already downloaded the Watermark version or sent the information on your CD, you are all set and do not need to take any further action.

If you have not already received the new Watermark version, please choose one of the actions below to update your protectedPDF.
Update Your PDF Download
If you purchased a PDF download that requires a serial number to open, to obtain the new Watermark version you need to:
  1. Go to the ICC store at shop.iccsafe.org.
  2. Sign into the "My ICC account" the download was purchased under.
  3. Select the "My Account" link located at the top of the page.
  4. Select the "My eCodes" link on the PDF Download tab then select "Show PDF Downloads" next to the title of your PDF. You will see the link for the download. (Note: This is the same download button that you used when you originally purchased the product.)
Update Your PDF CD
If you purchased a PDF CD, to obtain the new Watermark version you will need to send an image of the front and back of the CD case along with any information available regarding the original purchase (name of purchaser, date, etc.) to support@iccsafe.org. You will receive a return email with a coupon code and the steps on how to obtain a Watermark PDF Download of your code from the ICC store. The Watermark PDF download is licensed per individual so we can only provide one coupon per CD.
By downloading the new Watermark files, you agree to the Website User Agreement and Privacy Policy, and as applicable, the License Agreement. The Watermark file is licensed to the individual who made the purchase and allows them to place the file on two devices.

If you do not see the download listed in your account, or you don't have a "My ICC" account or need other help, please contact our support team at support@iccsafe.org.

News - Committee Work Concluded

FINAL REPORT OF THE AH BSS Committee:  The Ad Hoc Committee on Building Safety and Security (AH BSS) has concluded its work. The Code Council Board thanks the committee for their hard work and perseverance working through the pandemic and has sun set the committee. Click here for the Final Report.

The International Code Council Board of Directors established an ad hoc committee to comprehensively explore and assess building safety and security. Building safety is an issue of upmost importance to our families and communities as we tackle outdated facilities, fire safety concerns, active shooters and other emergency situations. The design, layout and building features in new and existing buildings can have an impact on both safety and security. Safety and security touches a myriad of code regulations as well as considerations which go beyond compliance. To read the press release, click here.

This will be a multi-year effort.  Three – four meetings are planned each year. The in-person meetings will be supported by committee and Work Group conference calls (once Work Groups are created).
