ICC and PEC sign agreement to help modernize Pakistan’s building codesPEC plans to use the International Codes to promote building safety, WASHINGTON, D.C., USA and ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – The International Code Council (ICC) signed an agreement with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) to support their efforts to update the Building Code of Pakistan. This agreement grants PEC the ability to use ICC’s 2015 International Building Code, International Zoning Code and Performance Code for Buildings and Facilities to modernize Pakistan’s building code. The Code Council’s set of model codes and standards, called the International Codes, reflect the most advanced building science construction methods and practices available and support the creation of safe, innovative, efficient and resilient structures. The Code Council and S. K. Ghosh Associates, the latest addition to the ICC Family of Companies, are familiar with Pakistan’s past efforts to update its building codes, having worked with the National Engineering Services Pakistan Limited to assist in these efforts in 2006. The ICC-PEC agreement builds on the Code Council’s long and successful relationship in working with the government of Pakistan on its building code efforts. “We’re proud to announce this important partnership, another sign of our commitment to strong building codes and standards worldwide,” said President of ICC’s Board of Directors M. Dwayne Garriss. “Pakistan joins many other countries and entities in using ICC’s model codes as a basis for strengthening their own.” “The Code Council is an active proponent of updated, modern codes that contribute to safe buildings and resilient communities. We’re excited to announce this new agreement with PEC, a part of our expanding global footprint,” said ICC Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. PEC Chairman Engr. Jawed Salim Qureshi stated, “The world’s premier organization, ICC, played a vital role in the development of the Building Code of Pakistan in 2006. Recently, ICC honored PEC’s request and granted a license to use the aforementioned International Codes to modernize the building code of Pakistan.” He added, “The revision of our building codes will provide life safety to around 200 million people in Pakistan who are living at the junction of three of the world’s major tectonic plates.” The Code Council has similar partnerships with Colombia, Haiti, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, the United Arab Emirates and others to help communities worldwide establish the safest and most resilient buildings and communities. ICC and BPI partner to advance building professionals’ training in TexasNew agreement facilitates a greater focus on the training curriculum Arlington, Texas – The International Code Council (ICC) and the Building Professional Institute (BPI) announced a new partnership that will advance training for building professionals in Texas. Under the new agreement, the Code Council will manage the registration, administration and outreach for trainings while BPI will focus on the curriculum to better serve the needs of building professionals in Texas. Originally established at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1992, BPI conducts four annual regional events that offer quality education and training for building professionals, including building officials, municipal inspectors, real estate inspectors, architects, engineers, builders, plumbers, fire protection personnel, code enforcement, permit technicians, contractors, electricians, and environmental health and safety personnel. BPI is an ICC Preferred Provider and coursework done through these training events earn valuable Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to help attendees maintain necessary professional certifications. “BPI is excited about the opportunity to partner with ICC on one of the key elements of our educational program,” said BPI Officer Charles Clawson. “This partnership will reduce our administrative responsibility and allow BPI to concentrate on our long-standing tradition of quality education.” The new agreement allows BPI to leverage the Code Council’s expertise and resources to elevate its own exceptional training services. “I am pleased that our longstanding ICC-BPI partnership is expanding to better serve the training needs of the building community,” said ICC Executive Vice President and Director of Business Development Mark Johnson. “Strengthening our partnership will benefit all building professionals in Texas and lead to building safer, more resilient communities.” The Code Council will begin supplying registration and outreach services for BPI’s October 2017 Central Texas event in August. Other BPI events occur each year in Arlington, Houston and Brownsville. Learn more about upcoming BPI training events at www.bpi-tx.com. ICC 1100 Standard for Spray-applied Polyurethane Foam Plastic
The first edition of ICC 1100-2019 was ANSI Approved as an American National Standard on October 10, 2019.
In order to reflect current industry practices, the Code Council has opened the revision cycle to develop the second edition of ICC 1100.
Project Abstract: Construction codes have requirements for thermal resistance of insulating materials but currently include limited material standards for certain types of insulating materials. The purpose for ICC 1100 is to develop a performance standard based upon existing ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria and related documents for spray-applied foam plastic insulation for use by industry and inclusion in construction codes.

ICC supports the Water Efficiency Improvement Act of 2017New legislation authorizes an important program that Washington, D.C. – The International Code Council (ICC) supports the Water Efficiency Improvement Act of 2017 introduced today by New Mexico Senator Tom Udall and Ohio Senator Rob Portman. This bipartisan legislation authorizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) WaterSense program, a voluntary public-private partnership that offers a simple way for consumers to identify water-efficient products. WaterSense products, such as certain types of toilets, showerheads, lavatory faucets, urinals and irrigation controllers, use 20 percent less water than standard plumbing products. These products are independently certified by a third-party certification laboratory to ensure they meet WaterSense specifications. Since its creation in 2006, WaterSense has conserved more than 2.1 trillion gallons of water and saved American families $46.3 billion in water and energy bills, according to the EPA. “In concert with our members, partners and others, the Code Council has actively engaged with Congressional leaders to support the authorization of this important program,” said ICC Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “WaterSense is a great example of how government and industry can come together to support water conservation efforts.” The Code Council develops the International Plumbing Code and the International Residential Code, the preeminent model codes used in the U.S. and many other countries, which provide regulations for plumbing facilities in buildings and homes. In addition, ICC Evaluation Service, a member of ICC’s Family of Companies, is a licensed provider of WaterSense certifications and works with plumbing manufacturers to evaluate their company’s WaterSense products.
